Why Nose More Sensitive When Hungry?

When hungry, your sense of smell may become more sensitive to the smell of food. Why? Based on the research the University of Cincinnati, the answer may be the hormone ghrelin. This hormone can increase the ability of the nose to sniff the food, in addition to stimulate hunger and play a role in fat storage.

Based on these studies, ghrelin has the potential to improve the ability of sense of smell to detect food and play a role in regulating the body's metabolic system and body weight.

The study, published Journal Neurosciense is done by testing on humans and mice. Study leader Dr. Jenny Tong and Dr. Matthias Tschop, endocrinologists say, ghrelin would menstimuluskan hunger to increase the sensitivity of the sense of smell.

"This study shows the hunger to improve the detection of smells," said Dr. Tschop, as quoted Health24. "stomach hormone ghrelin is a hunger. When this hormone is stimulated stomach appeared empty. This hormone is also responsible for increasing the sensitivity of the nose detect the smell. "

Tschop said the findings still need further research to identify a possible hormone ghrelin influence behavior.
